01Who & what this covers
These terms are between you and AMANOUS PTY LTD (ABN 54 696 304 391), an Australian company based in New South Wales, trading as AmaNous (“we”, “us”). They cover the AmaNous mobile text-to-speech reader, amanous.ai and its feature-request board (together, the “services”).
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. A privacy notice describes data practices; it does not replace any consent we need to collect separately.
The services are for a general audience. If the law where you live requires a parent or guardian to agree to your use, you must obtain that agreement. Where we ask you to accept these terms, please read them before accepting. Store terms also apply to downloading the app through Apple or Google.
02Using the reader
AmaNous converts text into speech on your device. The current app’s first-use flow requires sign-in. Once set up, speech generation and local listening run on your device. Sign-in, opening a web address, downloading app resources and sending feedback can use a network connection.
AmaNous Core is free. These terms do not create a subscription or authorise a recurring charge. If we introduce a paid service, we will show its price and payment, renewal, cancellation and refund terms before you choose it.
We give you permission to use the app and website for their intended purposes, subject to these terms and any applicable third-party licences. You are responsible for your device, network charges and keeping copies of important material.
03Your content & generated audio
You keep the rights you already have in documents, text and other material you import. Importing material does not transfer ownership to AmaNous. We do not claim ownership of your private library.
You must have the rights or legal permission needed to import, reproduce, convert and use the material. Permission to read a work does not necessarily include permission to distribute an audio version or use it commercially.
We do not grant you rights in someone else’s writing, voice, name or other protected material. Whether generated audio attracts separate rights depends on applicable law. These terms do not promise that you own every generated output or that every use is lawful.
Speech and text extraction can contain errors, omissions or pronunciation mistakes. Check the original source before relying on an exact quotation, instruction, name or number. The app does not provide professional advice.
04The feature-request board
The board uses an email sign-in code. Keep your email account and sign-in codes secure, and use an address you control. Signing in does not automatically subscribe you to marketing news.
Requests remain private to their author and our moderation team until approved. Approved requests, published comments and display names are public. Do not submit confidential material, another person’s personal information, or anything you do not have permission to share.
You keep ownership of your requests and comments. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce and display them as needed to run and moderate the board and discuss the request. We may evaluate and implement your suggestions without a promise of payment, credit or delivery. This permission does not transfer ownership of your work.
Votes and roadmap labels help us understand demand. They do not promise a release date, a feature or a contractual commitment. We may decline, merge, edit or remove a submission to prevent abuse, protect privacy, remove unlawful material or keep the board relevant. Where practical, we will explain material moderation decisions.
To report a post, challenge a moderation decision or ask us to remove your material, email [email protected]. We may need enough information to find the post and verify that you are entitled to request its removal.
05Use the services responsibly
Please do not use the services to:
- Infringe copyright or other rights, impersonate someone, or publish unlawful, threatening or harassing material.
- Share malware, spam the board, manipulate votes or misuse sign-in codes.
- Access another person’s account, private submission or moderation tools without permission.
- Disrupt the services, bypass access controls or extract private information.
These restrictions do not remove rights that applicable law or an open-source licence gives you, including lawful security research or interoperability rights. Please report a suspected security problem privately using the contact below and avoid exposing other people’s data.
06Our work & others’ work
AmaNous and its licensors retain their rights in the app, website, design, branding and other material we provide. Your permission to use the services does not transfer those rights.
The app includes third-party software and voice-model components. Their own licences and notices continue to apply. Nothing in these terms restricts permissions those licences grant you.
Links, app stores and services operated by others have their own terms and privacy notices. We are responsible for our services; we do not control the availability or content of independent third-party websites.
07Beta software & availability
AmaNous is in beta. Features may be incomplete, change or fail, and performance varies by device. We may release updates, carry out maintenance or retire a service. Where practical, we will give reasonable notice of changes that materially affect your use and an opportunity to retrieve material held by us.
Subject to the consumer rights below, we do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free speech or compatibility with every device or document. Keep a separate copy of material you cannot afford to lose.
08Your consumer rights & responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, remedy or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded. This includes rights under the Australian Consumer Law where it applies, and mandatory protections in your country.
Any description of beta limitations is subject to those rights. We remain responsible where applicable law makes us responsible. You remain responsible for unlawful use of the services and material you choose to publish.
09Suspension & leaving
You may stop using the services at any time. You can uninstall the app and sign out of the board. Uninstalling does not delete information already sent to our service providers, board posts, exported files or copies retained by your operating system or backup service.
For deletion of information we hold, use the contact and process in our Privacy Policy. Closing a board account and removing public contributions may require separate action.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a serious breach, security risk or legal obligation. Where practical, we will explain the reason and offer a way to challenge the decision or fix the issue. Urgent risks may require immediate action.
Ending use does not remove rights or obligations that already arose, applicable consumer rights, or provisions that need to continue to resolve an existing dispute.
10Changes & disputes
We will date new versions of these terms and give reasonable advance notice of material changes where practical. If a change requires your agreement, we will ask for it. A new version does not retrospectively change an existing dispute.
If something goes wrong, contact us first so we can try to resolve it. This does not prevent you from going to a court, tribunal, consumer body or regulator, or exercising a remedy available under applicable law.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, except where mandatory law applicable to you requires otherwise. The courts of New South Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes under these terms. Nothing in this clause removes a consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or any applicable right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the remaining terms continue to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
